In minorita civil association, Museum of the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica, in cooperation with the Institute of Ethnology prepared on the occasion of the Roma Holocaust Memorial Day on 2 August 2013 at the premises of reverence hall of the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica commemorative event and Ceremony.
A memorial ceremony has been held regularly since 2005, as a reminder of the events of 1944. Disposal of the former "Gypsy camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau" was redeemed by the deaths of hundreds of European Roma. Towards the end of the war, inmates available for work were deported from the camp and remaining 2,897 Roma men, women and children were murdered in the gas chambers at night from 2nd to 3rd August 1944.
